Across the state, one finds fragments and ruins of what was the most comprehensive statewide interurban electric light rail transit system ever built in the United States.  Every city in Indiana with a population over 5,000 except for Bloomington, Madison and Evansville was connected by the interurban system (Evansville was connected to a regional network).

Reclaim my Heartwood

I love it when my favorite things come together; wood + vintage + wabi sabi + sustainable = just about perfect for me. And thanks to J.L. Stader, a local Indianapolis reclaimed wood supplier & artisan, I have a great source for some truly beautiful reclaimed wood relics that I can’t wait to work into a project (or into my own dining room, living room, kitchen…).

Oh my God, Chartreuse!

Each time I visit a store and peruse the season’s latest fashions, I am uncontrollably drawn to anything chartreuse. Whether it’s a purse, belt, jacket or skirt, if it’s chartreuse, I want it.

My love for this color does not stop with clothing and accessories. Say I was to come across a chartreuse dog collar: the fact that I don’t even own a dog would barely qualify as a reason not to purchase it. Do you think I buy low sodium soy sauce because I’m concerned about my heart? No. Do I buy it because the bottle is liberally dressed in chartreuse? Yes.

My Passion for Parks

I recently had an opportunity to share my passion for parks and public space as part of my advocacy role with the Indianapolis Parks Foundation.  I did this because as a board member of the Foundation, I have come to realize how important it is to advocate for parks.
